Keiichi Nitta is a Japanese photographer whose imagery is brazenly provocative at times, but in some instances, manages to be completely serene. A protégé of the well-known photographer Terry Richardson, the artist expands on the “Dirty Photo” aesthetic, capturing instances of debauchery, stark nudity, sex acts, vulgarity, and overall absurdity. Using a low-tech and rudimentary approach – candid, point-and-shoot, raw, and un-manipulated – his style is an honest reflection of his subject matter. Without the facade of refinement and the gloss of high production, Nitta’s images succeed in breaking down moral barriers and in offering an opportunity to exercise open-mindedness.
