David Benjamin Sherry is a photographer who is not concerned with mimesis; his images may begin in the real world, but abruptly end there. Through technical darkroom processes, he transmutes his subject matter from common to chromatic. The work discloses an alternate view, or presents an ethereal version of reality, one that is fantastic, and borders on delirious. His manipulation of actuality is not so much and abrogate of tradition, it is a pleasure seeking vehicle, and a calculated presentation of a radical imagination. Benjamin’s stimulating colors and seductive compositions convey a sense of zenith - the capture of an ecstatic moment, an orgasmic instant - caught under the influence.
